Language Arts
Our Book Clubs are currently putting together Book Talk video presentations to share with other 5th classes next week. We look forward to sharing our books and watching Book Talks from other 5th graders.
Next week, students will also begin working on an individual Book Talk on a book of their choice. This work will happen at school and continue as homework as needed.

Homework Agendas and Homework
Thank you for supporting and encouraging your child's reading at home! We have a class that loves to read. As reading logs fill up, students are to hand in completed logs and bring home a new one. You can also print a reading log by clicking here. I will write comments on the logs and return them to students.
Math homework will be collected but not returned. We do spend a lot of time looking at each other's work in class, but the homework is for independent practice. Expect to see completed student workbook pages start to come home.
Please note that you may also start to see assigned reading coming home. Students are reading books in groups and have time in class to read but may need additional time outside of class to keep up with their club. Keep in mind that there may be five different Book Clubs operating at the same time, so the books will not necessarily be the same for each student. We will note assigned reading in our agendas.
Next week, we start spelling lists. There will be several different groups and we will note our spelling test dates in our homework agendas so that students may practice at home. Test dates will be approximately every 2 weeks.
In an effort to help students stay organized and manage their schedules as we prep for 6th grade onward, new items to look for in the agendas next week:
- Spelling lists and Spelling Test dates.
- class projects that can be extended to home
- PE and Library
- rehearsals
- extracurricular activities
- spirit days (and other special days)
Have a great long weekend!
