I hope that you are all staying safe and healthy. I miss seeing the class in person, but the emails, Google Classroom comments, and video check ins do make me smile! We have a great group this year, and I really hope that students are finding ways to stay connected with each other. I'll continue our Monday class check in at 11:00 to go over some information for the coming week and have some time to catch. The link will go out Monday morning in student emails.Please have students use their Chromebooks for the meeting.
Work for April 20-24

A few changes to note for this week:
Along with the Weekly Plan, I'm going to include a Student Schedule in our Google Classroom that organizes the assignments into a day-to-day planner. 5th grade will begin to use videos to introduce Readers Workshop lessons, and students will access these videos and some other content through links in the schedule. The schedule will be in Google Classroom on Monday morning and look like this:

Google Classroom - starting Monday, students need to go to their Google Classroom to access the Weekly Plan, Reading Logs, and Writing Assignments. They need to click on the 'Classwork' heading to see the assigned work (see below)

Reading Log and Jots- Starting on Monday, I will need to see your Reading Logs and Jots. These will be completed/submitted in Google Classroom.
Writing Prompts / Independent Writing- these will also be completed/submitted in Google Classroom.
Math- 1) students will continue with XtraMath (until they finish the program)
2) Pearson workbook pages can be accessed via the Pearson website or PDF files that can be printed or
edited in Kami (instructions in the weekly plan) Plans are underway to get student math workbooks
delivered to houses, I will let you know when I know the date that this is happening.
3) Students should continue to play Prodigy. (I am able to set student assignments and view their progress)

Rube Goldberg Machines
Check out some of our 5th graders' Rube Goldberg machines here. These are a lot of fun! Students are still able to post their videos if they have not had a chance to do so.
